Are you open over Christmas and New Year?
Christmas Eve: Usual opening hours, with last orders at 15:30

Do I need to book?
During the day, just come in. Reservations are available from 5:30pm Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and on Sunday from midday for Sunday Roast.
When are you open?
Sunday to Wednesday 8:30am until 5:30pm. Thursday to Saturday 8:30am until 5:30pm, then dinner from 5:30pm until 10:00pm (last orders at 9pm).
When is food served?
The First Edition is served all day from 8:30am, the Daily Spread from 12:00 till 16:30, dinner Thursday to Saturday from 5:30pm, and Sunday Roast from 12pm with last orders at 4:30pm.
Do you serve a Sunday roast?
We do, every Sunday from 12 noon. Roast chicken, fish pie or our plant-based nut roast, with all the trimmings. It’s a popular one, so booking is recommended.
Are dogs welcome?
Yes. Dogs are welcome, inside and out.
Do you cater for dietary requirements?
Our menus mark vegetarian (V) and plant-based (PB) dishes. For allergies and intolerances, please ask for details before ordering, and tell us when you book.
Is there a service charge?
A discretionary 12.5% service charge is added to your bill. If you would like it removed, just ask your server.
When do you serve alcohol?
Alcoholic drinks are served from 11am.
Where do I park?
Black Rock car park is right beside us on Madeira Drive, with disabled bays and free parking for Blue Badge holders. There is more parking at Brighton Marina.
Can I hire the Reading Room?
Yes, for weddings, parties and private events: 42 comfortably inside at our usual tables, up to 60 at banquet tables, and up to 150 outside.
Do you sell gift cards?
Yes, you can buy one online.
Is this the same Reading Room as Saltdean Lido?
We are sister venues: the same family and the same Skylark coffee.
