Our Pantry Girls, Carla and Karen, return to open the Reading Room supper club season with an evening inspired by the comforting flavours and simple pleasures of the 1960s.

Taking a gentle nod from the school-dinner era, expect familiar dishes, generous puddings and much-loved classics, brought together with a modern Reading Room touch.

A relaxed evening of nostalgic cooking, good company and a few old favourites reimagined.

Starters

• Cheese flan VGoats cheese & Gruyère herb shortcrust pastry tart with caramelised red onion, pomegranate & homemade beetroot chutney.

Mains

• Stew and dumplingOxtail & braised beef slow cooked in a rich red wine gravy, fluffy beef suet dumplings, creamy mash & buttered greens.

Vegetarian option

Pudding

• Jam & coconut sponge with pink custardWarm vanilla sponge with homemade plum and raspberry jam, coconut, poached plums, pink custard, coconut meringue, clotted cream.
